2020 Dates - Tuesday, March 31, 2020

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:  The Kings Mountain Gateway Trail remains open for hiking and biking however the restrooms, picnic tables, & workout stations are now closed due to the virus until further notice.  The run scheduled for Saturday, March 14 was cancelled due to the coronavirus.  The run will be rescheduled to a later date when it is safe.  Emails will go out to all runners that are signed up about the cancellation.  When a date is set for the run, a notice will go out as well. Thanks for everyone's support of the Gateway Trail!!!!!

The Kings Mountain Gateway Trail has changed to runsignup.com to sign up for the annual 5K 10Mile & Fun Run that will happen at a future date...please check runsignup.com to sign up for a future date for the event!  Tell all your friends as well...

 

Events for 2020 posted January 2020 - Tuesday, March 31, 2020

 

The 11th Annual 5K/10Mile Run and Fun Run

Everyone will be notified by email, newspapers, etc. about a future date for the annual run!

The run will take place at the Kings Mountain Gateway Trail, 807 South Battleground Avenue, Kings Mountain 9 a.m. to 12 noon.  Applications will be available at runsignup.com or contact Shirley at 704 739-9663 or [email protected] and ask for an application to be sent to you.  Applications will also be available at the Kings Mountain Family YMCA, Dover YMCA, Kings Mountain City Hall, Kings Mountain Art Center (Old Train Depot), and at the Trailhead on Battleground Ave. in Kings Mountain.  This is a family event with awards given in all categories including overall and masters.  Fun Run participants will receive a medal.  Refreshments will be served and fun will be had by all!!!!!! 

5th ANNUAL EARTH DAY EVENT, CANCELLED April 25, 2020, at the trail, 807 South Battleground Ave., Kings Mountain, N. C.  The event starts at 11 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m.  Parking is available on both sides of Battleground Ave.  There will be an additional doggie event, crafts, vendors of all kinds, music, & food, a wonderful family event sponsored by the city of Kings Mountain and the Kings Mountain Gateway Trail.  Contact [email protected] for more information. 

APRIL-JULY 2020 STORY BOOK ON THE TRAIL presented by the Library

June 6, 2020:  NATIONAL TRAILS DAY, get out and enjoy a walk in the woods on the Gateway Trail!  Check out the Butterfly pollinator garden on top of the Plateau!  It's gorgeous thanks in part to Duke Energy and Albemarle Lithium.

7TH ANNUAL TRAIL PHOTO COMPETITION & NATURE RECONSIDERED COMPETITION OCTOBER 2 TO NOVEMBER 6, 2020
This event will be held at the Kings Mountain Art Center (Old Train Depot)  Cash prizes for winners!!!!  Reception at the Kings Mountain Art Center on October 10, 6 to 8 p.m. For an application contact the Southern Arts Society at [email protected] or call 704 739-5585. Paintings, drawings, and photos for the Nature competition need to be produced in the past 2 years, & photos for the Gateway Trail Photo Competition must be taken at the Gateway Trail in the past 2 years. Photos need to be delivered to the art center on Battleground Ave. on Sat. Sept. 26, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 27, 1-4 p.m.  Photos must be 8" x 10" or larger and should be matted and backed.  For details or an entry form for either or both of these competitions call the art center at 704 739-5585 or email [email protected] or contact Shirley at 704 739-9663 or [email protected]
