Kings Mountain Gateway Trail

The Kings Mountain Gateway Trail is a greenway designed to connect the City of Kings Mountain to Crowders Mountain State Park, Kings Mountain State Park, Kings Mountain National Military Park, the Overmountain Victory Trail and the Appalachian Trail. This 8 to 10 mile greenway will consist of paved trail, soft-packed gravel trail and single-track mountain biking trails.  The trail will provide recreational opportunities to millions of people in our region, enhance economic development for our community, and provide a venue for citizens to link to one another and the rich history of our region.

The trail will preserve the natural beauty of Kings Mountain and provide a place for nature exploration, education in science and history and a venue for community events and celebrations of family. 2012-2013 at the Kings Mountain Gateway Trail

The trial is open from dawn to dusk for your enjoyment.  Hikers and bikers welcome!  Please be sure to pick up after your dog!  Three more miles of trail were added in 2011 & extend south to the bridge over hwy. I-85.  Visitation to the trail the first year opened, 2009 to 2010 was 60,000.  In 2012 the trail has had an average of 12,000 visitors a month!  The trail is very popular!
